Fitness and nutrition have been hobbies of mine for years, and i’ve helped many of my friends in these areas during this time. And i gotta say i’ve enjoyed helping them almost as much as going to the gym myself, and some friends even say i’ve been an inspiration to them. So, i feel like i’d love being a personal trainer. In fact i KNOW i’d be good at this job, i’ve practically been doing it for years.
I’m currently a senior in college with an irrelevant degree that may not lead to a job, and i don’t know what to do with the degree anyway. So i feel like being a trainer would allow me to do something i love while making some money before i graduate and quite possibly even after that if i don’t end up going into a "professional" career.
So, my question is, what certification is REALLY accepted in legit gyms? How soon will i be able to make up for the money spent on the certification? Will i be able to work while taking classes?

I always hear about those who exercise in the morning, but HOW can you do that? If you have a job (or anything that requires you get up five times a week), how can you exercise in the morning? And suppose you wake up at 8:20 AM to get yourself ready for work. Assuming you *can* wake up before that (say, an hour earlier) to exercise, how can you do that when you just woke up and have no energy? Not only do you not have energy and might pass out from low blood sugar, but exercising after sleeping is bad for the heart. The heart spent hours resting, then all of a sudden it has to exercise. (I read something like that) So what is the way to exercise in the morning and overcome the blood sugar and heart obstacles?
**UPDATE – QUESTION TO DOYLER ** Ok, suppose you eat soup or a cereal, aren’t you supposed to wait for it to digest first so you could avoid indigestion and get the full use of sugar?

I also want to learn to market myself effectively so that I can be a freelance personal trainer eventually. Thanks in advance!
Thanks! I can’t pick a best answer. They’re all pretty good.

Moving to the Detroit Metro Area SUBURBS (nice area) of Michigan wondering if there are many jobs within that area as a fitness/personal trainer. Looked on all of the job sites and found NOTHING!!! Anyone know a place that’s fairly easy to get in because I just got certified, and also how much do they pay their employees??

I used to be fit I danced and cycled, swam alot. I’m now alot weaker after living in India and now am struggling to get fit again. My job is sedentary but I go to the gym 4-6 times a week and walk 15 mins there and back. I do cardio for 30 mins and weights and abs for 20 mins and often do strength, toning classes. My core strength is still very weak. I have chocolate binges though my diet is generally pretty low fat, high protein. What else can I do and how long will it take to get fit.

The only time I’ve ever been thin was when I was popping diet pills like candy, starving my body and working out like it was my job. I realized this was a problem, went through some mental hell and gained a lot of weight.
I’m 5′9 and I was 110lbs, now I’m 175lbs…I think 135lbs is reasonible and where I’d like to be. Do you guys agree that is healthy?
Is there anything I can do this week before my gym/nutritionist program starts to prepare besides starving myself to ’shrink my stomach’ like part of me wants to?
Also, I’m a 34 DD and would really like to get back to the C cup I was when I was thin. I know it’ll come with weight loss but are there any additional exercises (with or with out machines) that will target a reduction in this area?
Answers to any or all questions are much appreciated. thank you in advance!
