How to go about becoming a personal trainer/fitness consultant?

Fitness and nutrition have been hobbies of mine for years, and i’ve helped many of my friends in these areas during this time. And i gotta say i’ve enjoyed helping them almost as much as going to the gym myself, and some friends even say i’ve been an inspiration to them. So, i feel like i’d love being a personal trainer. In fact i KNOW i’d be good at this job, i’ve practically been doing it for years.

I’m currently a senior in college with an irrelevant degree that may not lead to a job, and i don’t know what to do with the degree anyway. So i feel like being a trainer would allow me to do something i love while making some money before i graduate and quite possibly even after that if i don’t end up going into a "professional" career.

So, my question is, what certification is REALLY accepted in legit gyms? How soon will i be able to make up for the money spent on the certification? Will i be able to work while taking classes?

Where can I get the training I need to become a fitness/personal trainer?

First let me say, I LOVE working out. I love my trainer! When I asked my trainer, where he got his bachelors degree, he said he didn’t have one. This surprised me! But he is certified through the NSCA. He has taken alot of workshops over the last 20 years, which allows him to work successfully without a degree. He has taught me alot over the last 18 months. And I want to help others the way I’ve been helped. I would like to work as a fitness/personal trainer, while getting my bachelors degree in exercise science. Can anyone help me find a reputable vocational school that offers fitness/[personal trainer education?

1: What’s the best vocational school for fitness/personal trainer in the US?
2: What is the better credential to have ACSM, NSCA, AFFA? What is the "gold" standard?
3: Any recommendations before I even plunk down any money on a short/long term program?
4: Is National Personal Trainer Institute a good school?
Any suggestions or opinions would be very helpful.

Mini-trampoline and the soles of my feet really really hurting!!!!?

I’ve been using my new mini-trampoline for two weeks and and I LOVE it, however now I find that I can only rebound for under 10 min as the underside of my feet are aching by the end of that time!! I exercise in good quality cross-training shoes.

Has this happened to anyone else? Nothing else is sore (ankles are fine, knees are fine), so what is going on?

Thanks!

Exercise in the water?

Does anyone have ideas for exercises I can do in the water, other than swimming? I’m interested in water aerobics, but there are no classes offered where I live. Any idea on moves I can do that will help to strengthen my muscles? (No muscles in particular, I just want to be toned all over) This sounds like a fun way to work out (I love being in the water) but I don’t know where to begin! Thanks for your answers!

Out of Water exercises to Improve Swimming Performance?

I’m in a lifeguardind course at school and we will have a pre-test within a week to determine if we stay in the class or not. I love swimming but I don’t get to do it often (Chicago) and we only swim at our school’s pool one our everyday. How can I improve my performance/stamina out of the water? Any tips??
